ITINERARY
DAY 01: LUANG PRABANG HAFTDAY CITY TOUR
Being picked up from airport to your hotel in the old quarter, check in hotel. 1:30pm start to visit The Royal Palace Museum in Luang Prabang (also known as “Haw Kham” or “Golden Hall”) was once Laos’ Royal Palace. It houses a lot of interesting historical items. Every item tells a story…so you will learn quite a lot about Lao history and about Laos’ royal. Next destination is the Wat Mai (New Monastery) is one of the biggest and most beautiful temples in Luang Prabang. Its central position (in front of the night market and beside the Royal Palace) makes it one of the most visited temples of this ancient royal town. Visit Wat Xieng Thong (Golden City Temple) is one of the most important of Lao monasteries and remains a significant monument to the spirit of religion, royalty and traditional art. There are over twenty structures on the grounds including a sim, shrines, pavilions and residences, in addition to its gardens of various flowers, ornamental shrubs and trees. Climb up 350 steps to the top of the Phou Si hill to visit the Wat Phu Si and enjoy commanding views for many miles in each direction. Later free time.
DAY 02: LUANG PRABANG – PAK OU CAVES – KUANGSI WATERFALLS (B)
An optional early start gives you the fantastic opportunity to take part in the daily morning Alms-giving ritual for saffron monks. This tradition is unique to Laos as it is the only Buddhist nation that still preserves this procession.
See the beauty and hidden wonders of Laos on this day tour to Pak Ou Caves and Kuang Si Waterfalls. Follow your friendly local guide through the streets of Luang Prabang, then set off along the Mekong to the Buddha-filled caves of Pak Ou. You’ll visit a rural village where locals make rice wine and see how local people live. Next, head to the stunning Kuang Si Waterfalls and enjoy a picnic lunch in one of the country’s most picturesque destinations.
DAY 03: LUANG PRABANG – XIENG KHOUANG (B)
After breakfast, we drive about 300km uphill a mountain surrounded by wonderful natural scenery to Xieng Khouang, which was devastated by American bombing between 1964 and 1973. Upon arrival, check in hotel then transfer to visit the Plain of Jars – a world heritage recognized by UNESCO in 2019. The Plain of Jars is a extensive area around Phonsavan, surrounded by mountains, where massive stone urns of mysterious origin are scattered about in a least a dozen major groupings. Thoung Hai Hin (Stone Jar Plain), is 15 km southwest of Phonsavan, and the largest of the sites, featuring 250 jars, mostly weighing from 600kg to one ton each; the biggest of them weighing as much as six tons. Overnight in Xieng Khuang.
DAY 04: XIENG KHOUANG – PLAIN OF JARS – MUANG KHOUN (B)
This morning we have time to visit the interesting Central Market in Phonsavan, visit the MAG exhibition and Site 2 of the Plain of Jars before taking a short scenic trek to Site 3 via a Tai Dam and Lao Leum village. Afternoon go to visit the old capital of Muang Khoun and the nearby villages, home to the Hmong hilltribe and Tai Dam people.
DAY 05: XIENG KHOUANG – VANG VIENG (B)
After early breakfast, we will head out towards Vang Vieng. Enroute we stop off to see the Buddha images at Thampra, a site more than 200 years old, and various Hmong and hilltribe minority villages along the way. After numerous photo stops, we continue driving, enjoying the splendid natural scenery of the mountains, the forest and landscape. The journey will take us over mountainous regions until we approach Vang Vieng. After check in, depart to visit the famous caves of Tham Jang, which was once used by the local people as a hideout from Chinese invaders. Then we do a long tail boat on Nam Song River for sightseeing and see beautiful sunset. Back to hotel and relax. Overnight in Vang Vieng
DAY 06: VANG VIENG – VIENTIANE (B)
Cross the river to Ban Huai Ngai, a very pleasant village where we can explore the different lifestyles of the locals. Drive to Vientiane about 3 hours. Arrival at Vientiane, visit the Wat Sisaket, was built in the Siamese style of Buddhist architecture, with a surrounding terrace and an ornate five-tiered roof, rather. Pha That Luang, is a gold-covered large Buddhist stupa, generally regarded as the most important national monument in Laos and a national symbol than in the Lao style. Patuxai, also called Patuxai Arch or the Arc de Triomphe of Vientiane as it resembles the Arc de Triomphe in Paris free at leisure.
DAY 07: VIENTIANE – DEPARTURE (B)
Breakfast free at your hotel until transfer to the airport. End of services.
